Challenge

When the MariaDB Database Innovation Summit 2021 transitioned to a fully virtual format, it needed a branded, scalable microsite that could support live video sessions, real-time updates, and seamless attendee engagement. The platform had to be intuitive, visually cohesive, and optimized for performance across all devices.

Key challenges included:

• Creating a user-friendly interface for navigating multiple live sessions.

• Ensuring brand consistency across the microsite, presentations, and video content.

• Optimizing for performance while handling dynamic content updates.

Attendees often struggled with virtual event fatigue and difficulty tracking sessions, requiring a solution that prioritized clarity, engagement, and ease of use.

Approach

To streamline the user experience, I developed a scalable design system that maintained consistency across all event materials. The microsite was structured as a centralized hub, featuring:

• A branded interface aligned with MariaDB’s visual identity.
